Gynecology & Pregnancy

Week 6 - 11
Early Weeks

An ultrasound scan may be able to detect a pregnancy and a heartbeat in a normal pregnancy at around 6 weeks, but this varies a great deal and isn’t usually advised. All too often, a scan at 6 weeks shows very little or nothing, even in a perfectly developing pregnancy

Week 6 - 11
Blood Test

Antenatal Screen – (CBC, Blood Group, Coomb’s Test Indirect, Glucose – Random, Syphillis TP Abs, Toxoplasma IgG, Rubella IgG, RPR, HBsAg, HIV Combo (1 & 2 + p24 Ag), Urine Analysis & Culture).

Week 11 - 14
NT Scan

NT Scan An ultrasound that measures baby’s nuchal translucency —

A fluid-filled space behind your baby’s neck. This measurement can help your doctor estimate the risk of your baby having a chromosomal abnormality such as Down syndrome.

Week 11 - 14
Blood Test

Down Syndrome Risk/Double Marker (PAPP-A, Free b-HCG, (NT), Risk Calculation Ratio ) Week 11-14

Week 18 - 23
Anomaly Scan

An anomaly scan is done at 21-23 weeks to check the anatomy of the baby, the baby’s growth and normal placental position. We look for normal structures in the baby’s brain, face, spine, heart, stomach, bowel, kidneys and links

Week 18 - 23
Blood Test

Down Syndrome Risk/2nd Trimester Screening Triple Test (AFP, b-HCG, Free E3, Risk Calculation Ratio )  Week 18-23

Week 26 - 30
4D Scan

A 4D ultrasound is similar to a 3D ultrasound, except it displays the images of the baby in a live-streaming video. The images put together shows the movement of the baby’s body parts like their heart walls or vales and their blood flowing

Week 33 - 40
Growth Scan

Anomaly Scan

Pregnancy Anomaly Scan

A pregnancy anomaly scan is an ultrasound scan that is typically performed during the second trimester of pregnancy to ensure that the baby is developing normally. It is also known as a fetal anomaly scan or a structural scan. During the scan, the sonographer will look at the babys internal organs, measure the babys size, and check for any abnormalities. The pregnancy anomaly scan is usually performed between 18 and 20 weeks of gestation. Although this scan is typically performed during the second trimester, it can be performed earlier or later in certain circumstances. During the scan, the sonographer will use an ultrasound machine to take pictures of the baby and look for any abnormalities. The babys head, brain, face, spine, heart, stomach, kidneys, bladder, arms, legs, and gender are all examined during the scan. The babys movements, breathing, fluid levels, and blood flow will also be monitored. The pregnancy anomaly scan is a very important part of prenatal care, as it allows doctors and expectant parents to identify any potential issues before the baby is born. This scan can detect a wide range of birth defects and medical conditions, including Down syndrome, spina bifida, cleft

Antenatal care is the care you get from health professionals during your pregnancy. It’s sometimes called pregnancy care or maternity care. You’ll be offered appointments with a midwife, or sometimes a doctor who specialises in pregnancy and birth
